NUGAS is a Greek-Australian student movement created by youth in the interests of youth. In that sense the Union is a truly representative body and has the resources and structure to form a truly significant organisation for the representation of issues affecting young Greek-Australian students to public agencies and government.
It is within this context that NUGAS has a tradition of the publication of Policies affecting our membership. These are drafted by specifically elected Policy Officers that exist both nationally and at the state level, with the input of the committee structure and members more generally. These documents provide specific information and analysis of pertinent and relevant issues, as well as being prescriptive in recommending specific courses of action that should be taken by government in specific international and national issues. A recommended course of action to be taken by NUGAS is also agreed upon.
NUGAS has in the past produced Policies in numerous diverse areas. These include the Cyprus issue, statements on Violence, the Greek language, the environment, Northern Epirus and a host of others. This diversity of issue analysis will be added to in the future as NUGAS develops, and it is hoped that we will continue to accumulate a body of knowledge and research that will prove invaluable in the lobbying and representation of our constituency, you the members. These Policies are designed for the benefit of our members. With that in mind, if you feel strongly about an issue affecting Greek-Australians or see an instance where NUGAS can intervene to advocate the interests of our members, please do not hesitate to contact us via the NUGAS forum.
