In July 2000, I designed a cover page for my report to the NUGAS National AGM. The visual and text below, was presented to all in attendance;

“2025 AD.
Your 16-20 year old son or daughter doesn't want to appreciate the meaning of having a Greek background and associations such as NUGAS don't exist anymore! What do you do? Nothing....It's too late!
You should have done something 25 years ago!”

I will never forget what followed. Emotions were so high, that certain people had tears in their eyes and there was a deathly silence in the air for what seemed an eternity. This magazine hopefully helps prevent the above-mentioned “vision” from occurring. I'm extremely proud to be associated with NUGAS, as it has provided me with many opportunities and good times which otherwise would not have been possible. More importantly, it has made me realise the value of having a Greek background.
As Sfakianakis once sang... “Πατριδα μου, ποσο σ'αγαπω”.
